Here's a link to the list of all the items I bought. Hope it helps :) https://amzn.to/3Qzoks1
When I found out I was pregnant, I had a million thoughts run through my head. One of them was "What are all the baby items I will need?". I was in a transitional phase in my life where I was constantly decluttering and working towards a simpler life. This meant I ONLY wanted the essentials for the baby and no extra clutter. I read blogs, watched videos, read baby books, did all of the research I could do on what products I'll need. By the end of it I was overwhelmed. Everyone had extensive lists of baby items. I kept thinking there is no way I'll use all of this. So I decided to take my time and really be intentional about every single item I purchased. I wanted a very simple, clutter free, functional nursery. We also decided against a babyshower because although we would be very appreciative, we really didn't need all the gifts. Instead I wanted to be completely in control of what we bring into our home. For the bigger items, I was very adamant about finding pieces that have a dual purpose.
Here's a list of everything I purchased:
1.Hygiene
Diaper & Wipes
Baby Grooming Kit
Fridababy SnotSucker
Diaper Genie- At first I was against this because I thought "Why would I need a specific trash can for diapers". I am so glad we decided to purchase it. We loved it so much that we ended up getting two. One for his nursery upstairs and one for downstairs.
Changing table- I looked for a changing table that I could use after he outgrew it. I found one with a detachable changing station that turns into a nice piece of furniture with a shelf and drawer.
2. Clothing
This is a big one. If you're not careful, it can get out of hand really fast. I purchased two newborn outfits and the rest I made sure everything was 3 months and up. Later on I did purchase other clothes such as cute little overalls and pieces that I really liked. But this was my starter list:
5 Plain white short sleeved onesies
5 Regular short sleeved onesies
10 Long sleeved pajamas
One pack of 5 hats
5 Joggers
2 Shorts
One pack of 6 socks
2 Jackets
10 Bibs
5 Mittens
One pair of soft shoes
3. Sleeping
3 in 1 Crib
Mattress
Waterproof protector
2 Bedsheets
2 Blankets
Pack n Play that doubles as a bassinet
10 Swaddles
Sound machine
Camera- We debated on a camera for a while because neither of us wanted to constantly watch our baby sleep. However, with his room being upstairs, we figured it may help here and there. I didn't want to spend money on an overpriced baby specific camera so we used our pet camera that we already had and bought for $50 on amazon. It worked great and helped during the sleep training.
Diffuser/Nightlight- We were gifted the Owl diffuser from Young Living. We love it.
4. Feeding
3 Plastic bibs
3 Glass bottles
3 Baby Spoons
Bottle Cleaner
Baby Food Pouches
Blender- I already had a blender so there was no need to purchase a baby food blender.
Breastpump
Breastmilk bags
One pack of 10 burp cloths
Highchair- I wanted a highchair that I didn't have to get rid of as soon as he outgrew it. I found one that turns into a little table and chair as he grows.
5. Lounging
There are so many baby lounging products out there. I once again wanted something that he wouldn't outgrow in a few months.
Nuna Leaf Grow Baby Seat- Babies are so finicky when it comes to rockers and swings. I didn't want to purchase one and risk him not liking it. We found the Nuna Leaf Grow to be a great option because it can hold up to 130 pounds. As he gets older, he can use it as a reading chair.
Boppy Lounger Cushion- This was probably our most used purchase. I still use it at times and he is 10. months old now. I found it easier to rock him to sleep using this pillow rather than holding him.
Power Recliner for the nursery
6. Bathing
Bath Chair
6 washcloths
2 Towels
Shampoo/Body wash
Coconut oil for moisturizing
7. Travel
Ergobaby Omni Breeze- My husband and I both love this carrier. It's very easy to use and super comfy.
Diaper bag
Stroller/Car Seat- My favorite purchase by far is our Orbit Baby stroller system. I can't say enough great things about it. You get a base for your car and a stroller base. You get an infant car seat and a stroller seat. You also have options to purchase additional seating like a bassinet. The car seat and stroller seat can both be clipped into the stroller base. They also swivel 360 degrees. There have been so many times this came to good use. I 100% recommend it to everyone.
8. Nursery Decor and Miscellaneous
6 Framed Animal Wall Pictures
Crib Mobile
Fake Plant
Rug
Dreamcatcher
Bookshelf and books
Safety Gate for stairs
Pacifier with clip
9. Health
Earthley Teeth Tamer Oil
A variety of essential oils
Saline Mist Spray for congestion
First aid kit
10. Toys
Loveevery subscription- When it comes to toys, we try to keep it very minimal. We also practice the Montessori method of learning. We love this subscription because it takes out the need for me to research what toys he needs at each stage. They do it for you and deliver it every few months. The toys are great quality and he has loved nearly all of them so far.
Wooden Play Gym
One pack of rattles
A couple rubber teething toys
Playmat
Outside tree swing
Jumper/Swing- We got this as a gift and he absolutely loves it.
Becoming a parent is a hard but beautiful journey. There are so many challenges you will face. Don't let clutter be one of them. Help yourself by keeping it simple and staying mindful. The baby business is a multi billion dollar business and they do a very good job at marketing, especially to new parents. Don't fall for it. You don't need half of that stuff. Most importantly, this is a very special time in your life so try not to get overwhelmed and enjoy all that comes with it. Have fun baby shopping!
Love,
